Description
Doctors Hospital of Augusta is seeking a skilled RN Director to lead our Medical-Surgical department. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality patient care, and support a culture of clinical excellence and safety. Responsibilities include staff leadership, mentoring, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and driving performance improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Ideal candidates are experienced Med-Surg RNs with strong leadership skills, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to continuous professional growth within a supportive, team-oriented environment.Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Medical-Surgical department to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Oversee daily unit operations, including staffing, scheduling, budget management, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to implement and sustain evidence-based standards of care.
Monitor clinical and operational metrics and lead performance improvement, quality, and patient safety initiatives.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, and state requirements.
Recruit, mentor, coach, and evaluate nursing leaders and frontline staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and professional growth.
Lead change management efforts, including implementation of new technologies, protocols, and practice standards.
Partner with other departments to optimize patient throughput, reduce length of stay, and improve patient satisfaction.
Participate in strategic planning, program development, and policy creation for the med-surg service line.
Promote continuing education, specialty certification, and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
Medical-surgical nursing expertise in acute care settings
Nursing leadership and team management
Budgeting and financial management for hospital units
Staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
Performance improvement and quality/safety initiatives
Knowledge of evidence-based practice and clinical protocols
Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory requirements
Change management and project implementation
Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
Conflict resolution and problem-solving
Data analysis and use of clinical/operational dashboards
Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
Staff education, coaching, and mentoring
Patient throughput and flow management
Strategic planning and program development

Progressive leadership experience in acute care/med-surg setting
Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing or Nursing Administration (preferred)
