Description
Methodist Healthcare seeks a Nurse Manager of Critical Care to lead daily operations and clinical excellence within our ICU. This role provides strategic leadership for nursing teams, ensures evidence-based, high-quality patient care, and drives performance in safety, quality, and patient experience. The Nurse Manager oversees staffing, budgeting, and regulatory compliance; mentors and evaluates staff; and fosters a mission-driven, collaborative culture. This position offers robust professional development, advancement opportunities, and the chance to impact critical care for the San Antonio community.Provide 24/7 leadership and operational oversight for the critical care/ICU unit
Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care
Develop, coach, and evaluate nursing staff; support professional growth and retention
Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient acuity needs
Monitor and improve quality, safety, and patient experience metrics
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and leadership on care coordination and throughput
Participate in budgeting, cost control, and capital/resource planning for the unit
Lead or support performance improvement, clinical initiatives, and change management projects
Foster a culture of compassion, integrity, diversity, and continuous learning
Critical care nursing practice
ICU clinical competencies and protocols
Staff leadership and team management
Clinical operations and throughput management
Budgeting and resource management
Quality improvement and patient safety
Regulatory and accreditation compliance (e.g., Joint Commission)
